• Common Name : Dark Clouded Yellow
• Scientific Name : Colias electo fieldi (Menetries)
• Family : PIERIDAE
• Wingspan : 54-65mm
• Colour : Easily identifiable by the bright yellow colouring. The upper side is golden yellow with a broad black margin on all four wings; underside yellowish with silvery spots.
• Habit : A very common butterfly of throughout the hilly region of Darjeeling district; found in the forest clearings or in the open meadows; visits various species of low growing flowers such as Taraxacum officinale, Gentiana carinata, Primula sp. etc.
• Larval Host Plants : leguminous plants
• Location : Throughout West Bengal
