Scientific Name : Tanaecia lepidea (Moore)

Wingspan : 65 - 80 mm
Colour : Dark brown butterfly with pale grey border on HW.
Habit : Strong flier, widely distributed in moist forested regions. Seen at low elevations upto 2000m from Feb. to Dec. Flies low along roads and clearings, often seen basking on low growing bushes. Attracted to overripe fruit and tree sap.
Larval Host Plants : Melastoma malabaricum, Careya arborea
