• Common Name : Indian Red Admiral
• Scientific Name : Vanessa indica (Herbst)
• Family : NYMPHALIDAE
• Wingspan : 55-65mm
• Colour : Dark brown, Forewing is having a central red band divided on the inner side by large black spot.
• Habit : Very shy butterfly, found in open forest glades, open area; flight is rapid, low over the ground, often basks on the grassy meadows; attracted to dropping, dung, rotting fruits and flowers; sits with its wings three-fourth open.
• Larval Host Plants : Urtica sp.
• Location : North Bengal
