Large Silverstripe
Description
- Common Name : Large Silverstripe
- Scientific Name : Argyreus childreni (Gray)
- Family : NYMPHALIDAE
- Wingspan : 75-100mm
- Colour : The forewings are predominantly orange with black spots, while the hindwings are brown, with many white stripes. The underside is green like an olive. The margin is silver. There are many great silver stripes on wing.
- Habit : Occurs in higher elevation of North Bengal Hills; Visits flowers of Compositae and Cruciferae; Fast flight, basks early in the mornings with its wings wide open. The pictures shown above were photographed at Sinchal WL Sanctuary.
